I need to say something... Next time you feel “you just had a salad” you most likely ate 600 calories, if not over

I weigh, measure and don’t eat dressing and still it’s over 400 cals. Most add cheese, croutons n dressing...

I was thinking the same thing the other day... Reminded me of my cousin, Amanda- she would go to the salad bar and have everything on her salad from sunflower seeds to cheese and ham and croutons- spilling out of the bowl and tons of dressing. :)

I used to do the same thing, except for tons of dressing. At the time I sure thought it was healthy. 😂

if you only eat 3 meals a day 600 calories is not that much for a lunch or dinner

What is in the bowl to the left of the chickpeas? I found that if you have enough oil/fats (avocado, cheese) you can do without dressing. If I don't have avocado, I need dressing. I LOVE this raspberry vinaigrette at Aldi. It is so viscous that I think most of it ends up on the bottom of my plate instead of digested.

I make my. own dressing so I can control what's in it. I like just a splash of EVOO and lots of balsamic. If we are traveling I usually buy skinny girl honey mustard. It's 10 cals for 2 tablespoon. My fav salad is romai e, spinach, apple and feta.

Hey, where in NYC are you from? I live in Brooklyn and I've been looking for local people to form a jump rope group to get outside and get moving when it warms up. I'd love to know if that's something you'd be willing to explore or if you know of any other FS members who live locally. Let me know!

I strength train so eat a lot of protein with green vegetables or fruit 4x a day. For most of my meals I never use any type of fat so when I do have a salad with protein on it such as chicken, salmon or steak I add 2 T. full fat dressing. I do that 1-2x a week. But you are right - I do not add croutons or cheese just lots of veggies for variety. My husband uses cottage cheese and then he hardly needs any dressing and that is extra protein too.

V8 juice with added spices and lemon makes a great salad dressing.

Red pepper hummus mixed with a little red wine vinegar makes a yummy creamy dressing, and you don't have to use very much.

I used to "Just eat a salad" a lot. I love all the stuff you can add & often used nuts, raisins etc. And I liked lots of dressing. I have changed it up where I add mostly veggies and I measure/weigh all the higher calorie additions if I choose to still add them. My cheese of choice is feta...lower cal and dressing is a measured portion of some type of vinaigrette. A small peice of chicken or salmon on top & it's a truly lower calorie meal 😋

Y’all are a mess. I’m in Queens and once my foot is back 💯 I’m most def into jumping rope. I actually jumped for HIIT at gym before my fractures. I’m still unable to jump but hoping in a few weeks I’m good to go.

Chicken salad? A nice calorie dense salad that should hold you for quite a while. Looks delicious 😋

TRUTH! An innocent looking "light" Grilled Chicken Ceasar Salad may not be so innocent after all... By the time they finish piling on the parmesan, garlic croutons and dressing, you could be looking at 800 caloried or more, depending on serving size. Love them, but had to swear off all "salads", except for the chopped cabbage/vinegar dressing variety. Not as bad as it sounds, if you can find a good vinegar-based Asian ginger dressing and throw in some red cabbage, with a few (three or four) flat wanton noodles. Plenty of flavor, lots of crunch, and you can eat it with chopsticks, which seems to make a meal seem larger than it is, somehow.

Tuna salad. I’m 98% plant based with the exception of seafood and eggs. This was a dense salad indeed. I do think that the misconception is that salads are all healthy. I wanted to bring awareness should we have newbies that are not measuring and weighing what they eat. The frustration can set very easily. “I don’t understand why I don’t lose weight, I only eat salad for lunch” I’m an OG and very aware of calories in and calories out. I just like eating a little extra something all the time 🤣🤣🤣 I log about 95% but quite in tune with my body and it’s fluctuations. I also lift weights 4 days a week and more focused on muscle growth and fat loss vs weight loss...
